Sally Hipscher and Gala Co Chairs Zach Bernstein and Ed Guterman write:
Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the success of the East Midwood Jewish Center 94th Annual Gala.
This year, we honored Becky Phillips and her husband, Dan Wilchins for their efforts and commitment to leading, organizing and maintaining EMJC’s twice monthly, family led Shabbat Katan service, and Stephen Appell for his lifetime commitment, dedication, devotion and service, and for being an advocate and spokesperson for liberal Jewish causes and values, unions, and labor rights and for his lifelong devotion for animal rights.
Cantor Sam Levine and Gail Hammerman spoke so beautifully as they introduced this year’s honorees. Our honorees were eloquent as they acknowledged their gratitude and spoke about their love for, commitment to, and passion for the work they have done for the East Midwood Jewish Center and our community. Roz Pomerantz’s songs, sung by Cantor Sam, were, as usual well -crafted, clever and fabulous! Neuman and Leventhal made certain the cocktail hour, dinner, and viennese dessert table was plentiful and delicious.
Our own, in house troubadour, Ben Lapidus, played, masterfully, during the cocktail hour. The DJ, Mr. Fine Wine of WFMU played dance music throughout the evening. All who attended would agree that we had a terrific time at the Gala!
Thank you to all the sponsors who made this event a financial success, exceeding previous years!
Thank you to guests Rabbi Kass and Father Perry.
Thank you to Michael Schwartz for continuing support and guidance.
Thank you to Carolyn Schultz for exceptional work compiling the Journal.
