East Midwood celebrated its 92nd anniversary at Sunday night’s Dinner Dance, with an elegant tribute to six talented and devoted members (Harvey & Susan Lubowitz, Joseph & Emily Pariente, and Murray Lantner & Moran Ben-Shaul Lantner). In addition to the delicious food from Colbeh Caterers, there were eloquent speeches and vigorous dancing ranging from the hora to the electric slide, from the twist to the cha cha cha — plus, even a few waltzes. The high point of the evening was Cantor Sam Levine singing original poems about each honoree, sung to the melodies of “Night & Day” and other popular standards, created by EMJC’s own poet laureate, Roz Pomerantz. It was a wonderful evening. View the journal from our celebration by clicking on the image above.
